Marc's Running Club

This year the Seward park Young Runners participated in the Youth Cross Country Invitational and the Jingle Bell Jog, two of the events held by the New York Road Runners, where competitive New Design Students were thrill to run. The New York Road Runners is running organization that seeks to improve community health and well being by creating youth programs for schools all over New York City. Mark, a teacher at NDHS took the initiative to bring attention to a group of students who were willing to compete with other runners. In preparation for this event, students met every Tuesday and Thursday at the track with their coach Danny Gonzales and Mark, who prepared them mentally and physically. Their hard work and strength earned them awards and motivated them to keep running.

In Dave's industrial design class, students created one of kind stained glass windows that were similar to the ones featured in medieval churches. In this class, students mimicked a method that dates back thousands of years where glass was stained with metallic oxide powders. Students used alternative materials like Plexiglas and color acetate to create their stained glass windows. Students created their design by doing thorough research, patterns and using a photo of themselves. This project taught students how they can use stained glass window to transform a space with light.
